The Wanaka Chamber Music Society is delighted to be supporting a new chamber music festival launching this coming 15-17 October in our region.

Violinists Benjamin Baker and Justine Cormack are launching their inaugural At the World’s Edge Festival (AWE) from October 15-17 with three masterfully curated programmes performed in three breath-taking locations.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Central Lakes region, the three performances tell the story of two rivers and the moment they meet: the Mata-Au, or Clutha River in Wanaka, the Kawarau River in Queenstown, and the Confluence, the place where their waters collide in Cromwell.

AWE will take its audience on an unmissable journey, designed to be experienced either in sections or even better as an emotionally enthralling whole.

Eight AWE Festival Artists from the UK, Australia and NZ will perform the music of five composers - Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Clara Wieck, Reena Esmail and NZ Composer-in-Residence Salina Fisher, whose works powerfully intertwine across three evenings of music.

Festival venues and performance times:

Wanaka’s Rippon Winery (Friday 15 October. 7.30pm)

Cromwell’s Cloudy Bay Winery (Saturday 16 October, 7.30pm)

Queenstown’s Memorial Centre (Sunday 17 October, 5pm)
